Q&A

Q: What's the best time of year to take the 1000 Islands tour?

A: The best time to go is definitely late spring to early fall. The weather is usually great, and you'll see more wildlife! We've done it in July, and it was gorgeous—lots of greenery and birds. Just keep an eye on the forecast, though, since rain can change plans.

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this tour?

A: There's no strict age limit, but I’d recommend it for kids 5 and up. The guide keeps it engaging, and there’s enough room to move around on the boat. Just be mindful of younger ones near the edges, since it can get a bit rocky sometimes.

Q: How's the parking situation at Clayton for the tour?

A: Parking is pretty good in Clayton, but it can get busy on weekends. There's a public lot near the docks, and it’s usually around $5 for the day. Get there a bit early to snag a spot if you're going during peak times!

Thinking of gifting the 1000 Islands tour for my parents’ anniversary!

I’m really considering this unique tour for my parents' 30th anniversary. They love nature and history, so I think they'd enjoy hearing about the War of 1812 while cruising the islands. The fact that no passports are needed makes it even better! Any tips or personal experiences?

Just got back from the 1000 Islands tour, and it was incredible! The guide was so passionate about the islands’ history, and we saw a ton of wildlife. Just a heads up, dress in layers because it can get windy on the water. Would totally recommend it as a gift or even just for a fun day out!
