The Story of Boston told on the Freedom Trail differs from all other Freedom Trail offerings in that it covers not only our celebrated Revolutionary sites, but gives visitors a full history of our city. We cover the story, from the early punitive and superstitious Puritans, to the Revolution, the boom years as 'America's Harbor and finally the ascension of the Irish Catholics bringing us to the Hub we know. Along the way, rascals and residents from Ho Chi Minh, Carles Ponzi and Malcolm X to Mayor James Michael Curley, our 'Robin Hood,' are covered.

Q&A

Q: Is there a specific age limit for the walking tour? I'm wondering if it's suitable for my 10-year-old.

A: The Boston Historical and Heritage Walking Tour is generally suitable for all ages, including kids. However, keep in mind that it lasts about 2 hours, so younger kids might get a bit tired. It’s a great opportunity to engage them with history, though! Just be sure to check in with the guide if you have any specific concerns about your child's attention span.

Q: What should I wear for the walking tour? Is there anything specific I need to know?

A: Definitely wear comfortable walking shoes since you'll be on your feet for a couple of hours. Dress in layers; Boston weather can change quickly! Sunscreen or a hat is also a good idea if it's sunny, and maybe a light jacket for cooler days. Just be prepared to be outside for the entire duration!

Q: What if it rains on the day of the tour? Can we reschedule?

A: Good question! The tour does run rain or shine, but if the weather is really bad, you can typically reschedule. Just reach out to the provider directly to discuss options. They’re pretty accommodating! It's best to keep an eye on the forecast and be prepared for a little drizzle.

Thinking of gifting the Boston Historical Walking Tour, thoughts?

I'm considering this 2-hour historical walking tour for my parents' anniversary. They've never been to Boston and love history! I think this could be a great way for them to explore. Has anyone done this tour? What was the highlight for you? I want to make sure it's worth the experience!

Just completed the Boston Historical Tour - what an experience!

I just finished the Boston Historical and Heritage Walking Tour, and wow! The guide was engaging, weaving together fascinating stories about everything from the Puritans to Malcolm X. It really brought the city to life! Plus, we got to see some lesser-known spots not just the big tourist stuff. Highly recommend it for anyone visiting Boston or even locals wanting to learn more!
