Meet up in front of Cosmic Saltillo. A lush garden oasis serving up coffee, brews and cocktails in a unique setting that is the definition of what makes East Austin a top destination for locals to hang out at. We begin our 2 hour walking food tour with a leisure journey through a small part of the east side and stopping for the first food bite at a local favorite food truck that has grown with the neighborhood. There we will try a delicious falafel bite. Our journey will continue with a walk through the neighborhood taking in the Historic sites and street art to our 2nd destination, a place that was once a local convenient store turned brewery. There we try a Tex-Mex bite while learning about how this place became a local favorite brewery that has won multiple awards for their craft and a place that is literally off the beaten path. We then end our food journey with a sweet, unique bite you can’t find anywhere else, from a local place with an Austin cult following.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this food tour? Can kids come along?

A: Yes, kids are welcome on the food tour! It's a family-friendly experience, which makes it great for gifts. Just keep in mind that they might not get all the adult beverages at the brewery stop, but they'll still enjoy the food options. I took my 10-year-old, and she loved every bite!

Q: What should I wear for the food tour? Is it a lot of walking?

A: Definitely wear comfy shoes since it is a walking tour! The route is pretty chill, but you'll be on your feet for about 2 hours. I recommend dressing casually, maybe layers if you're going early or late in the day. Also, don't forget to bring a hat or sunglasses for the sunny spots!

Q: What happens if it rains on the day of the tour?

A: If the weather looks bad, you can usually reschedule with the tour provider. They’re pretty flexible about it! Just make sure to check their policy when you book. Don’t worry too much, Austin weather can be unpredictable, but they’ll work with you.

Thinking of gifting the Austin Food Tour - anyone done it? How was it?

I’m looking at getting the 2-Hour Express Austin Food Tour for my sister's birthday. She loves street food and Austin culture! I read you get a falafel bite and some Tex-Mex at an old convenience store turned brewery, which sounds so unique! Is it worth it? Any favorite stops that I should know about?

Anyone done the food tour? What were your thoughts?

I’m considering this food tour as a fun gift for a friend who’s visiting Austin. I saw that it starts at Cosmic Saltillo, and that place looks pretty cool. Can anyone share their experience? Is it easy to find parking there?
