Q&A
A: Great question! Wavehuggers typically recommends the age limit to be around 7 years and older for their surf lessons. This ensures that kids can follow instructions and stay safe in the water. Just make sure to check in with them directly if you have a younger child, as they may make exceptions depending on the child's comfort level and swimming ability.
A: You’re in luck! Wavehuggers provides both wetsuits and surfboards, so you don't need to bring anything special. Just wear something comfortable underneath, like a swimsuit or athletic wear. Don’t forget sunscreen, and maybe a hat for after the lesson. If it’s chilly, you might want to bring a light jacket for when you're out of the water!
A: Absolutely! Wavehuggers has a flexible rescheduling policy. If the weather doesn't cooperate, they’ll usually reach out to you to reschedule for a better day. Just keep an eye on the forecast and communicate with them ahead of time to find a suitable alternative that works for everyone.

Thinking of gifting a surf lesson at Wavehuggers!
I’m considering getting a 2-hour private surf lesson for my sister's birthday. She’s never surfed before, but loves the ocean. I’ve heard great things about Wavehuggers in Encinitas and their focus on ocean conservation! Anyone had a good or not-so-great experience? What can I expect?
Just completed my surf lesson at Wavehuggers!
OMG, I just finished my surf lesson in Encinitas with Wavehuggers, and it was a blast! The instructors were awesome, super friendly and made sure we were all safe. I was able to catch a few waves! The wetsuit and board were included, which was great. Definitely recommend it for anyone thinking about it as a gift or just for fun!
