Q&A
A: Yes, kids can definitely participate! Wavehuggers generally recommends ages 7 and up for their private surf lessons. They have instructors who are great with kids and focus on making it fun and safe. Just make sure to let them know in advance so they can tailor the lesson appropriately.
A: Great question! You’ll be provided with a wetsuit by Wavehuggers, which is really helpful since the water can be chill. Just wear your swimsuit underneath and maybe a rash guard if you have one. Also, don’t forget to bring sunscreen and a towel for after!
A: Yes! Wavehuggers has a flexible rescheduling policy. If the weather isn’t safe for surfing, they’ll reach out to you and help you find a new date that works. Just make sure to check your email that day for updates!

Thinking of gifting a surf lesson in La Jolla! Any tips?
I’m considering giving my friend a private surf lesson with Wavehuggers for his birthday. I’ve read that they’re really hands-on and focus on ocean conservation too, which is awesome! Has anyone tried this? Are the instructors good with beginners? I’m also curious about if they provide everything needed for the lesson.
Just did a surf lesson at Wavehuggers - amazing experience!
I booked a private group lesson at Wavehuggers last month and it was incredible! The instructors were so patient and made sure everyone caught a wave. They even taught us about how to take care of the ocean which made it even better. La Jolla is beautiful too! Totally worth the price. Highly recommend for anyone looking to learn to surf!
