Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the surf lessons? I want to buy this for my 12-year-old.

A: Great question! Wavehuggers typically welcomes kids as young as 7 for their surf lessons, so your 12-year-old will be just fine. They focus on individualized instruction, so they'll make sure your kid feels safe and confident in the water. Just be sure to let the instructors know about any previous experience they might have!

Q: What should I wear to the surf lesson? Is a wetsuit enough?

A: You’re gonna love this! Wavehuggers provides wetsuits and surfboards, so you don't have to worry about bringing any of that. Just wear your swimsuit underneath and maybe some water shoes if you prefer. Don’t forget a towel and sunscreen!

Q: What happens if the weather is bad? Can you reschedule?

A: If the weather isn’t cooperating, Wavehuggers will usually reach out to reschedule your lesson. They want to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience! Just make sure to check their cancellation policy when booking.

Thinking about gifting surf lessons at Wavehuggers - anyone tried them?

Hey everyone! I'm considering getting a 2-hour private surf lesson for my brother’s birthday at Wavehuggers in San Clemente. Has anyone done this before? I’ve heard good things about them focusing on ocean conservation too, which I love! How was the experience? Any tips?

Private surf lessons - what’s it really like?

I’m looking at taking private surf lessons at Wavehuggers for a small group. We’re all beginners and kinda nervous. What can we expect? Is the instructor good with total newbies? I need to know before I book!
