Q&A
A: There’s no strict age limit, but younger kids should definitely be able to sit in the kayak comfortably. They recommend ages 5 and up, and life jackets are provided for all sizes. It’s great for families, and my 7-year-old had a blast! Just make sure they can hold on during the paddling.
A: Definitely wear swimsuits, and maybe a rash guard if you're worried about the sun. Water shoes are great too, since you might get wet! I wore flip-flops, but they kept slipping. Bring sunscreen and a hat to stay protected!
A: If the weather's really bad, they’re pretty flexible and will let you reschedule. Just call ahead to confirm. It’s usually calm on the river, but safety comes first! We had a slight drizzle but still went out and loved it.

Just did the tandem kayak rental in Hale'iwa! Here’s my experience!
We had such a blast doing the tandem kayak rental on the Anahulu River! The scenery was stunning, and we even saw a few sea turtles. The launch area is super easy to access, which was perfect since I’m not a pro paddler. We brought our two kids, and they loved swinging off the rope swing and swimming at the beach afterward. Highly recommend for families or anyone looking to chill on the water!
Considering a gift for my partner—tandem kayaking?
I’m thinking about giving my partner a tandem kayak rental at Hale'iwa for our anniversary. We both love being outdoors, but neither of us has kayaked before. Is it easy to learn? I’m a bit worried about the whole thing, but it sounds beautiful and fun!
