This is a wonderful alternative to an airboat ride … quiet, peaceful and surreal. It is a leisurely paddle experience with a naturalist guide who throughout the tour will be interpreting and explaining what you are seeing. It is a great learning experience in a very unique part of the Everglades. The Everglades is a vast and varied ecosystem containing the largest mangrove forest in North America. Throughout the forest are brackish "lakes" whose waters are a mix of "sweet" fresh water and salt water. They are refuges and nursery grounds for alligators, herons, egrets, stilts, ducks, wood storks, spoonbills,  otters, orchids and bromeliads and a gamut of fishes. Interconnecting these lakes are narrow, flowing tidal creeks. The mangrove forest grows to the very edge and over the tops of these creeks forming a canopy or a tunnel. The dense canopy regulates moisture and humidity allowing  to thrive. Note: June through October, we suggest the morning experiences due to the weather.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the kayak tour? Can kids join?

A: Yes, kids can definitely join! The tour is family-friendly, and children as young as 5 can participate, but they should be accompanied by an adult. Just keep in mind that they might need some encouragement to paddle at times since it's a leisurely pace.

Q: What if the weather’s bad? Can we reschedule?

A: Absolutely! If the weather’s not cooperating, they allow you to reschedule without any extra fees. Just make sure you call or email them at least a few hours ahead of your scheduled time to discuss options.

Q: What should we wear for the kayak tour? Any tips?

A: Wear light, breathable clothing since it can get warm in the mangroves. Quick-dry fabric is ideal. Don’t forget your sunscreen and a hat for sun protection! Water shoes are recommended too, as you might step into the water occasionally.

Thinking of booking the Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Tour for my dad's birthday!

I’m looking to book the 3-hour guided kayak eco tour in Naples for my dad’s birthday next month. He loves nature, and I think this would be an awesome way for us to spend some time together. I’ve heard the guides are super knowledgeable and the scenery is unreal! Just wondering if it’s a good option for someone who’s a bit out of shape. Any thoughts?

Just did the Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Tour and it was amazing!

I recently went on the 3-hour kayak eco tour and it exceeded my expectations! The guide was super friendly and shared so much knowledge about the mangroves and wildlife. We saw a ton of different birds and even a couple of alligators! The tunnels are so peaceful; it’s like being in another world. I’ll definitely recommend this to my friends as a gift idea!
