This is the perfect tour for anyone looking to get out on the water for a few hours on their San Juan Island vacation. With pick-up and drop-off in downtown Friday Harbor, this family and beginner-friendly three hour tour gets you kayaking among pelagic wildlife in the shadow of Mt. Baker. After picking you up at the Friday Harbor waterfront, we'll take a short drive over to Jackson's Beach, coach you through basic paddling and safety techniques and get you out on the serene waters and tidal zone of Griffin Bay as to circumnavigate Dinner Island with views of the Olympic Mountains cresting above Cattle Pass. With morning and afternoon departure times, we think this tour is a great way to dabble in some kayaking, have some laughs, enjoy nature, and make memories with your travel companions.

Q&A

Q: What's the age limit for kids on this kayaking tour?

A: Great question! Kids ages 5 and up can join the tour. Just make sure they’re comfortable in the water. The guides are super friendly and will help everyone feel safe. Bring a life jacket if they have their own; otherwise, they provide them.

Q: Can you reschedule if the weather is bad?

A: Yes! They’re pretty flexible with rescheduling if the weather doesn’t cooperate. Just give them a call as soon as you know, and they’ll work with you on finding a new date. Safety's their top priority!

Q: What should I wear for the kayaking tour?

A: Definitely wear something comfortable that can get wet – like a swimsuit or quick-dry clothes. Don’t forget a hat and sunscreen! If it’s cooler out, a light jacket is good. They provide dry bags for your stuff, but keep valuables at home just in case.

Thinking of gifting a kayaking tour in Friday Harbor – help!

Hey everyone! I want to surprise my partner with the 3 Hour Kayaking Tour from Friday Harbor this fall. We both love nature but have never kayaked before. Is it really beginner-friendly? And what do you think about the views? I heard the Olympic Mountains are stunning from the water!

Just did the kayaking tour, and it was amazing!

I just got back from the kayaking tour around Dinner Island, and WOW! It was just us and a few other kayaks. The wildlife is crazy – saw seals and tons of birds! The guides made sure we were all comfortable, and the scenery was to die for. If you're thinking about it, just go for it!
