Q&A

Q: Is there a weight limit for the shells we collect, or can we take as much as we want?

A: Great question! As far as I know, there isn't a specific weight limit mentioned for the shells you collect. However, it's a good idea to be mindful of the amount, especially since you'll be on a small boat. The captain might have recommendations on how much is reasonable to take back. Just enjoy the hunt and don’t stress too much about counting!

Q: What's the best time of year to go shelling in Marco Island?

A: The best time for shelling is usually in the spring and early summer when the tides are lower and the beaches are less crowded. However, anytime from late winter through early fall can yield good finds. Just be sure to check the local tide charts for your trip!

Q: Can kids participate in this shelling tour, and is there a minimum age requirement?

A: Yes, kids are definitely welcome on this tour! There’s no strict age limit, but it's designed to be family-friendly, so it should be fun for kids around 5 and up. Just make sure they can wear a life jacket and enjoy being out on the water.

Just got back from the ShellSeeker Safari – what a blast!

I just did the 3-hour Shelling Tour in Marco Island last weekend, and wow, it was awesome! The boat ride through the 10,000 Islands was super scenic, and our guide was really knowledgeable about the local shelling hotspots. We found some amazing shells, including lightning whelks! I’d recommend bringing a hat and sunscreen, as you’re out in the sun a lot. Perfect for families, too!

Thinking about gifting the shelling tour – any advice?

I’m looking at getting the Shelling Tour for my parents’ anniversary. They love beach days but have never done shelling before. Are the shells pretty easy to find? And should I worry about the weather? Any tips would be great!
