Q&A

Q: What if the weather is bad on the day of the tour? Can we reschedule?

A: Yes, if the weather conditions aren't safe for the tour, you can definitely reschedule. Iruka Hawaii is pretty good about letting you pick another date if you can't go. Make sure to check your emails for any updates from them a day before your trip. They’ll usually give you a heads-up if they think it might be canceled.

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this Dolphin Watch tour?

A: There's no strict age limit, but younger kids should be comfortable in the water if they're snorkeling. The crew is really great with families, though, so they can help! Just make sure to bring life jackets for the little ones if they're not great swimmers.

Q: What should we wear for the Dolphin Watch and snorkeling?

A: Wear a swimsuit under your clothes for the best comfort. A rash guard can help with sun protection while snorkeling. Don’t forget a hat and sunglasses, too! The boat has places to store your stuff, so you can change if needed. Just be aware it can get a bit chilly on the water when you’re not in the sun!

Just got back from the Dolphin Watch tour! So worth it!

I took the 4-hour Big Island Dolphin Watch and BBQ lunch trip last week, and it was AMAZING! We saw so many dolphins, and the snorkeling spots were beautiful. The crew was super friendly and helpful, especially since it was my first time snorkeling. We had freshly grilled lunch right on the boat—who doesn’t love BBQ by the ocean? Highly recommend this for anyone visiting Hawaii!

Considering this tour as a gift—any thoughts?

I’m thinking about getting the Dolphin Watch tour for my sister’s birthday. She loves dolphins and snorkeling! I’m just a bit worried about how she’ll handle being out on the water for 4 hours. Is it too much for someone who might get seasick?
