Q&A
A: If you're aiming to see bears, late July to early September is your best bet. The salmon run brings them down to the river, making bear sightings pretty likely. August is particularly great because you'll have a good chance of seeing them fishing and interacting with their cubs along the riverbank. Just keep an eye on the weather too!
A: Yes, the lunch options are pretty flexible. They offer turkey sandwiches, but you can request vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options just as long as you give 48 hours' notice. The food is fresh and surprisingly good for a nature tour! You’ll get a cookie and fruit too, so it’s a nice picnic vibe.
A: There's no specific age limit, but keep in mind that younger kids might find the tour long unless they're really interested in wildlife. It’s family-friendly, so just bring some activities for them if they get antsy. You want to make sure everyone enjoys the chill experience!

Just got back from the Chilkoot Lake tour and wow!
I did the Chilkoot Lake Nature and Wildlife Viewing tour last week and it was incredible! Our guide was super knowledgeable and took us to all the best spots for wildlife. We saw a couple of bears fishing for salmon, which was just amazing! The turquoise lake is even prettier in person. And the lunch was way better than I expected. Can't recommend this enough!
Thinking of gifting the Chilkoot Lake experience!
I'm considering this as a gift for my parents. They've always loved nature but have never been to Alaska. Has anyone gone with older family members? Is it a good fit for them? I want them to have a great time without it being too strenuous.
