Q&A
A: The hike around Beaver Lake is relatively moderate, making it perfect for beginners! There's some elevation but the guides pace it well, and they give plenty of breaks. Just wear good hiking shoes and you'll be fine. It’s about 2-4 hours depending on the group, but totally doable for most fitness levels.
A: Yes! If the weather is bad, Sitka Walking Tours will definitely reschedule your hike. They prioritize safety and the experience. Just reach out to them on the day before or the morning of if it looks rough, and they’ll help you find a better day.
A: Dress in layers! It can get chilly, especially if it's windy. I'd recommend a light waterproof jacket and sturdy shoes. As for snacks, they provide some local Alaskan snacks, but it's a good idea to bring extra if you think you'll need them. The hike can be longer than expected if you're having fun picking berries!

Thinking of gifting the Adventure Hike in Sitka! Any tips?
I'm considering this hike as a gift for my dad’s birthday. He loves the outdoors but is a bit out of shape. I read that they have guides, so I’m hoping that helps. Is it good for someone who's not super active? Also, how’s the wildlife viewing? Is it likely we’ll see anything cool?
Just did the Alaskan Wilderness Trail hike!
OMG, the Adventure Hike was incredible! The scenery around Beaver Lake was stunning, especially the crystal-clear water and the mountains. Our guide was super knowledgeable about the local wildlife and even taught us how to pick berries. We saw eagles and got to enjoy some local snacks too. If you're on the fence about gifting this experience, do it! It’s totally worth it.
