Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this tour? I'm thinking about taking my kids.

A: There’s no official age limit for the African American Night tour, but it’s generally recommended for ages 10 and up since the stories can be quite in-depth and might not hold younger kids' attention. If your kids are interested in history, they might really enjoy it! Just make sure to check with the tour guide if you have specific concerns.

Q: What’s the dinner part like? Is the soul food really that good?

A: Oh my gosh, the food at Ooh and Ahhs is incredible! It’s honestly some of the best soul food I’ve had. You can pre-order, which saves a lot of time. The tour guide also shares a bit of history about the restaurant while you eat. It's a cozy atmosphere, perfect for savoring those flavors.

Q: What happens if it rains? Is the tour still on? I want to gift this experience.

A: The tour operates rain or shine, so you should be prepared for the weather! They recommend bringing an umbrella if rain is expected. However, if there are severe weather warnings, they will reschedule your tour. It's always best to check their policy or call ahead if the forecast looks shady.

Just did the African American Night tour and it blew my mind!

I went on the African American Night tour last weekend and it was such an incredible experience! Our guide was super knowledgeable and shared so many fascinating stories about DC's black history. Dinner at Ooh and Ahhs was to die for! I had the candied yams and they were delicious. Plus, getting tickets to the Museum of African American History for the next day was a great bonus! Highly recommend this for anyone interested in history or just looking for a unique night out!

Thinking about gifting this tour, any advice?

I’m looking for a cool gift for my dad, and this African American Night tour has caught my eye. I love that it includes dinner at a soul food place! But is it easy to get to? I live in Maryland and don’t want him to have to deal with parking stress.
