Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on the bear tour?

A: There’s no strict age limit, but it’s best for kids aged 5 and up. The tour itself is designed to be engaging for children, and they’ll enjoy the bears and the stories. Just keep in mind that younger kids might need a bit more attention during the boat ride.

Q: What should we wear for the boat excursion? Is it cold on the water?

A: Definitely dress in layers! It can get chilly on the water even in summer, especially if it’s windy. A waterproof jacket is a good idea too. Bring a hat and gloves just in case. You want to be comfortable while you enjoy the views!

Q: How do the rescheduling policies work for this tour? What if it rains?

A: The provider, Adventure Sitka, usually allows you to reschedule if the weather is not conducive for the tour. Rain is common, but they’ll check conditions and will notify you if they need to cancel. Just keep an eye on their communication!

Just booked the Alaska Bears and Silver Bay Homestead tour!

Hey everyone! I just booked this tour for my parents' anniversary. They love nature and bears, so I think this will be perfect. I can’t wait for them to see the Fortress of the Bear! I've heard the campfire part at the homestead is super cozy with s'mores. Just wondering if anyone has tips for them since they’re a bit older and not great with boats?

Has anyone done the bear tour? What should I expect?

I’m thinking about getting this experience for my boyfriend’s birthday! He’s a huge bear enthusiast, and the glacier fjord sounds breathtaking. I’m a bit worried about the boat ride though; does it get rough? Any advice would be appreciated!
