Q&A
A: There's no strict minimum age, but I'd recommend it for kids 5 and up. They’ll enjoy the sights and the narration from the guide. Plus, the seats are pretty spacious, so they won't feel cramped. Just keep in mind younger kids might have a shorter attention span during the 4-5 hour ride.
A: You can definitely buy food on the train! They have a dining car with pretty decent options, plus a snack bar. I'd recommend trying the Alaskan salmon if you can. Just remember it can get a bit busy during meal times, so plan accordingly!
A: Late spring to early fall (May to September) is the best time. The views are stunning and you might even see wildlife! Just be aware that weather can change quickly in Alaska, so dress in layers. Fall colors are beautiful too, but some services may be limited as it gets closer to winter.

Thinking of gifting the Denali Star Train experience, any thoughts?
I’m considering buying a ticket for my parents to travel from Fairbanks to Denali on the Denali Star Train. They love trains and the outdoors, so I think they’d enjoy the views and the narration. Can anyone share their experiences? Is it worth the price? Any tips for making it special?
Just did the Denali Star Train, and wow!
I just finished the Fairbanks to Denali trip on the Denali Star Train, and it was a highlight of my trip! The seats were comfy, and the guide's stories about Alaska were so interesting. Plus, we saw moose along the way! Highly recommend getting the salmon for lunch.
