Q&A
A: The weather can definitely impact the visibility of the Northern Lights! If it’s cloudy, you might not see them, but the guides are usually pretty good at checking the forecast. They often have backup plans or let you know if you should reschedule. Just keep in mind that the further out you book, the better chance you have of picking a clear night!
A: Definitely dress warmly! Layering is key because you’ll be outside in the cold for the dog sledding. I’d recommend thermal layers, a good winter jacket, gloves, and a warm hat. They have blankets in the yurt, but you’ll want to be comfy while you’re out sledding too.
A: This experience is great for families, but I’d recommend it for kids at least 8 and up. They’ll have a blast dog sledding and the whole Aurora viewing is magical! Just make sure they can handle the cold and understand the need for patience while waiting for the Lights. It’s a unique experience that kids will remember!

Just got back from the Alaskan Escape Adventure – WOW!
I just did this Alaskan Escape: Aurora Viewing & Dog Sledding thing in Fairbanks last week and it was incredible! The yurt was super cozy with all the hot cocoa you could drink, and we saw the Northern Lights after a bit of waiting. The dog sledding was such a thrill, going through the snow with a pack of happy dogs! I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a cool experience. Just make sure to dress warm!
Thinking of gifting this experience!
I’m looking to surprise my partner with this Alaskan adventure! He’s always wanted to see the Northern Lights. I’m a bit worried about weather though. If we end up not seeing them, is the experience still worth it? I love dogs and I think the sledding part will be super fun! Any advice?
