The American Prohibition Museum, located in Savannah's City Market, is the first and only museum in the United States dedicated to the history of Prohibition. While here, self-guided guests will travel back in time to the early 1900s, as anti-alcohol rallies swept the nation and the “booze problem” was pushed to the forefront of American politics. The true story of America’s struggle with the liquor question, the passing of the 18th Amendment, its impact on the nation, and the far-reaching consequences of the 13 years of Prohibition all come to life within the walls of the American Prohibition Museum. Upgrade to the Guided Tour Option or the Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience option. Each will give you a fully guided 45-minute tour. The Guided Tour option also includes a period-accurate cocktail or mocktail. The Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience option includes a bartending experience in our speakeasy tasting an Old Fashioned and MAKING a Bees Knees!

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the cocktail experience? I want to take my young adult kids!

A: Yes, there is an age limit for the cocktail experience. Guests must be 21 or older to participate in the guided tour & cocktail experience since alcohol is included. Kids can still enjoy the museum and the guided tour without the cocktails, but keep in mind that the museum itself is quite engaging even for younger ages!

Q: How long should we expect to spend at the museum? Is there much to see?

A: You can easily spend 1.5 to 2 hours at the museum, especially if you're doing the guided tour. There’s lots of interactive displays and historical artifacts that really bring the Prohibition era to life! Make sure to check out the speakeasy section—it’s super cool! If you opt for the cocktail experience, plan for a bit more time.

Q: What kind of parking is available near the museum?

A: There’s street parking available around City Market, but it can fill up quickly, especially on weekends. I recommend arriving early or using a nearby parking garage like the one on Abercorn St. It’s just a short walk to the museum!

Had a blast at the American Prohibition Museum!

Just got back from the American Prohibition Museum in Savannah, and it was awesome! The guided tour was super informative, and we even got to make a Bees Knees cocktail in the speakeasy part. The whole vibe took us back in time and the cocktails were delicious! Definitely recommend it for history buffs or anyone looking for a unique experience. Plan on spending at least a couple of hours if you want to soak it all in.

Thinking of gifting the Prohibition Museum experience!

I’m considering getting tickets for my partner’s birthday! The idea of the guided tour & cocktail experience sounds perfect. Just wondering if anyone has done this with kids? Would our teens find it interesting, or should we stick to just the adult tour?
