Anchorage has one of the best urban trail systems in the United States, with hundreds of miles of paved and multi-use trails connecting our city. Our three main multi-use trails—the Chester Creek Trail, the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, and the Campbell Creek Trail—can be connected to form a 30-mile bike loop, an almost-complete urban greenway that is, when viewed on a map, in the shape of a moose! You will be off the beaten path, spending the day like a local with a local! This urban greenbelt has ample opportunities to spot wildlife like moose, black bears, bald eagles, and occasionally even a beluga whale! If you love to bike, there is no better way to experience Anchorage than by joining us to bike the "Moose Loop" (the route makes the outline of a moose head on a map).

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the Anchorage Greenbelt Bike Tour?

A: Great question! The Anchorage Greenbelt Bike Tour is suitable for ages 12 and up, but younger kids can join if they’re really comfortable on a bike. Just make sure they’re able to ride the 30-mile loop! Also, if they’re under 18, an adult needs to sign a waiver for them.

Q: What should I wear for the bike tour? Any recommendations?

A: You’ll want to dress in layers! Mornings can be chilly, but it warms up later. I recommend moisture-wicking clothes, sturdy sneakers, and a light jacket. And don’t forget sunglasses and sunscreen, you’ll be outside for hours!

Q: If the weather is bad, do they cancel the bike tour?

A: They do try to go unless it’s really unsafe, like heavy rain or snow. If they do cancel, they’ll reschedule or offer a full refund. Just check the forecast and call them the day before if you’re unsure!

Thinking of gifting the Anchorage Greenbelt Bike Tour - has anyone done it?

I’m planning to gift this bike tour to my sister who’s visiting Anchorage next month. I’ve heard it’s amazing and you get to see wildlife. Can anyone share what to expect? How was the pace? She’s not super experienced with biking.

Anchorage Greenbelt Bike Tour - what snacks do they provide?

I’m curious about the snacks included in the Anchorage bike tour. Are they substantial or just a quick bite? I know biking can make you super hungry! 🤔 Planning to go next weekend.
