Q&A
A: Good question! I'd recommend wearing comfortable hiking shoes because the trails can be a bit rocky. Dress in layers since the weather can change quickly in Colorado. Lightweight, moisture-wicking clothes are the way to go, and don’t forget a hat and sunscreen!
A: Absolutely! Kids love this tour! The geology sample bag with fossils and gems is a big hit. As long as they can handle a 2-mile hike, they’ll have a blast. Just keep an eye on them with the rocks and hiking poles. It’s a family-friendly experience.
A: You can book the tour through the Trail Gems website. They usually have a couple of options, but it's best to book in advance since spots can fill up quickly, especially in the summer. Just check the weather before your hike, and if it looks bad, they usually let you reschedule without any issues.

Just did the Ancient Landscapes hike, and it was amazing!
I recently went on the Ancient Landscapes Private Geology Hike at Garden of the Gods and wow, what an experience! The guide was super knowledgeable and made learning about the rocks and fossils really fun. We hiked about 2 miles, but it didn't feel too strenuous. My kids loved the geology sample bags they got to take home. Definitely a unique gift idea for anyone interested in nature or geology!
Thinking of gifting this geology hike, need advice!
I’m considering buying this Ancient Landscapes hike as a birthday gift for my geology-loving friend. Has anyone done this yet? What should I expect in terms of difficulty and how interactive is it? Also, is it too basic for someone with a geology degree?
