This is a self drive activity, meaning you would need to handle your own transportation to and from our location. Dinner reservations start at 8:00pm for this activity, and included in your booking is a 3-course meal at Latitude 65. Alcohol is not included, but is available for purchase, as are additional add ons and appetizers.  After dinner, you can relax in our lounge space and utilize our free wi-fi while you wait for the Aurora Borealis to make an appearance. At 10pm our staff hold a nightly presentation discussing the science and folklore behind the northern lights, which is a free presentation.  When the aurora makes an appearance, our staff will inform you where to look! We also offer additional photography sessions at $60 per person.  The yurt closes at 2:00am, which is when you would need to depart the property.

Q&A

Q: What's the best way to drive to Latitude 65 for the Aurora Viewing?

A: Getting to Latitude 65 is pretty straightforward! If you're coming from Fairbanks, just take Chena Hot Springs Rd towards the north. It’s about a 30-minute drive, so make sure to check the weather and road conditions. Parking is available on-site, but it can fill up quickly during peak Aurora season, so try to arrive early. Also, keep an eye on the aurora forecast for the best viewing chances!

Q: Can we reschedule if the weather's not cooperating?

A: Yes, you can reschedule your booking if the weather forecast isn’t looking good! Just reach out to Basecamp Adventures directly, and they'll help you find a new date. They’re pretty accommodating, especially when it concerns the aurora since it can be hit or miss. Just make sure to contact them as soon as you know!

Q: What should we wear? Is it really cold at night out there?

A: Definitely layer up for this! In Fairbanks, it can get really chilly at night, especially while you're waiting for the aurora. I’d recommend thermal layers, a good jacket, gloves, and a warm hat. You might be outside for a bit, depending on how long it takes for the lights to show, so the warmer, the better. Also, wear comfortable shoes since you may be walking a little to get the best view.

Just did the Aurora Viewing and Dinner experience! WOW!

I went to the Aurora Viewing and Dinner last weekend at Latitude 65 and it was incredible! The 3-course meal was delish, especially the steak! I loved hanging out in the lounge before the show while learning about the aurora. The presentation was super interesting too. We saw the lights around 11pm, and it was magical. I couldn't believe how vibrant they were! Definitely worth it!

Thinking of gifting the Aurora Dinner experience but have questions!

I’m considering getting this experience for my brother's birthday! But I'm worried about the logistics. How early should I book? Is it kid-friendly? If he brings his girlfriend, how do they dress? Any tips from those who've been?
