Q&A

Q: What should I wear for the ice climbing experience? Is there a dress code?

A: You’ll want to dress in layers! Start with a moisture-wicking base layer, then add an insulating layer like fleece, and finish with a waterproof shell. Don’t forget warm socks and gloves, too. Mountain Trip provides all the gear you need for climbing, but staying warm and dry while you’re not climbing is key!

Q: Are there any age limits for the ice climbing experience?

A: Most of the time, participants need to be at least 12 years old to join. However, if you're planning to gift this to a younger climber, just check with Mountain Trip ahead of time to see if they can accommodate younger guests. They’re super flexible!

Q: What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the climb?

A: If the weather doesn’t cooperate, Mountain Trip will work with you to reschedule. They're really good about keeping safety first, so if conditions are not safe for climbing, they won't take you out. Just be sure to check their cancellation policy when booking!

Just booked the backcountry ice climbing experience in Telluride!

I’m so excited! I booked this for my boyfriend’s birthday, and he’s gonna love it. The guides seem super experienced, and I’ve heard the scenery is breathtaking. I hope he can handle the cold, though; he's not really used to winter sports! Anyone have tips?

Has anyone actually done the backcountry ice climbing with Mountain Trip?

I’m thinking about trying this out myself or possibly gifting it. I’m not super experienced but love the idea of ice climbing. How safe did you feel with the guides? Any advice?
