Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids to join the fossil hunting excursion?

A: There's no strict age limit, but the guide mentioned that kids around 5 years and up typically enjoy it the most! They provide life jackets for all ages, and the guide is great with kids. Just make sure they're ready for a bit of walking on the beach.

Q: What should we wear? Is it muddy or sandy?

A: You’ll want to wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting sandy or wet. Flip flops are fine, but I recommend water shoes if you have them! It's pretty much all sand and ocean, so nothing too fancy is needed.

Q: Can this excursion be rescheduled if the weather doesn't cooperate?

A: Yes! The provider is really flexible with rescheduling due to weather. They usually try to contact you a day or two ahead if storms are forecasted, and you can pick another date that works for you.

Fossil Hunting at Folly Beach - What an amazing experience!

I just got back from the Barrier Island Drop Off Fossil Hunting Excursion, and wow, it was incredible! The guide was super knowledgeable and really helped us find some great fossils. We even found a shark tooth! The cooler with water was a nice touch for the hot day. I’m thinking of gifting this to my friends who are coming to visit next month. Anyone have tips for first-timers?

Considering a Fossil Hunting Excursion as a gift!

I'm thinking about getting this fossil hunting experience for my nephew’s birthday. He’s really into dinosaurs and fossils. How long does it usually last? Can anyone share what their kids thought of it?
