Q&A

Q: Is there a specific age limit for participants on this self-guided tour?

A: No specific age limit! It’s great for all ages, but just keep in mind that younger kids might need a little help with the app. I did this with my 10-year-old and she loved it! Just make sure everyone wears comfy shoes since you’ll be walking a good bit.

Q: What happens if it rains? Is there a refund policy?

A: If it rains, you're totally fine! Since it’s self-guided, you can choose to do the tour whenever it suits you. Just check the weather and reschedule if needed using the app. No refunds because it’s free, but you won’t miss out on the experience.

Q: What's the best place to park if I want to start the tour at the Old Governor's Mansion?

A: You can park on North Blvd right by the Mansion; there's usually a good amount of street parking. There's also a public lot behind the State Capitol that’s just a short walk. Make sure to check the signs for any parking restrictions!

Just did the Historic Downtown Tour—so cool!

I just finished the self-guided audio tour in Baton Rouge and wow! The old Governor’s Mansion is stunning, and walking along the Mississippi was just peaceful. The audio had some fun stories about Mark Twain too. I think this would make a perfect gift for my dad, who loves history. Anyone else tried the Cajun food spot they mention? I want to go back for that!

Considering this walking tour as a gift—any thoughts?

I’m thinking about getting the self-guided tour as a gift for my brother. He loves exploring but isn’t a fan of big group tours. The idea of going at his own pace sounds perfect! Just wondering if anyone found it hard or if there are any hidden gems I shouldn’t miss?
