We are one of the few locally owned/operated surf schools on the North Shore of Oahu. We have been teaching surfing for over 20 years and love to pass on our knowledge of surfing to anyone willing to learn! There is no better place to learn how to surf then the birth place of surfing! Lessons are for for all ages and all levels. Surfboard and rash guard will be provided for the lesson. The beach we teach at is also a very popular beach for seeing turtles, I'm sure we will see a few during our surf lesson. Learn from the best and come surf with us! We are also one of the only surf schools with fluent Japanese speaking instructors!

Q: What should we wear for the surf lesson on North Shore?

A: You'll want to wear something comfortable that can get wet. A swimsuit is perfect, and the rash guard they'll provide is great for sun protection. Also, don't forget flip-flops or water shoes for walking on the beach. If it gets a little windy, a light cover-up might be nice too!

Q: Are there any age restrictions for the surf lessons?

A: No age restrictions! They teach all ages, from kids to adults. It's a great family activity. Just make sure kids are comfortable in the water and ideally have some swimming experience. The instructors are super patient and skilled at working with beginners.

Q: What if the weather is bad on the day of the lesson?

A: If the weather's bad, they usually contact you to reschedule. Safety is their priority! Just keep an eye on the forecast. I’d suggest booking it with some flexibility in mind, so if you need to change dates, it’s easy. They’re really good about accommodating people.

I just bought a beginner surf lesson at North Shore Banzai Surf School for my sister’s birthday. She’s always wanted to surf and I figured there’s no better place than Oahu! What should I tell her to expect? Should I go with her or let her go solo? Any advice on the best time of year to take the lesson?

Anyone see turtles during the surf lesson?

I did the beginner surf lesson at North Shore last month, and it was amazing! I saw a few turtles while waiting for waves. It was such a cool bonus. Just wanted to share that for anyone considering the experience. Also, the instructors were super chill and made learning to surf so much fun. Highly recommend!
