Q&A

Q: What's the best time of year to do the Haleakala Downhill Bike Tour?

A: The best time to do the tour is during the dry season, which is typically from April to October. Mornings are usually cooler and the views are stunning! Just be sure to check the weather before you go, as it can change quickly up on Haleakala.

Q: Is there an age limit for this bike tour? Can kids join?

A: Yes, kids can join! They need to be at least 12 years old. Just make sure they’re comfortable riding a bike, as some parts can be steep. It’s a fun family activity, so I’d recommend it for adventurous kids!

Q: How physically demanding is the bike ride? I'm not very experienced.

A: The bike ride is generally beginner-friendly since you're mostly going downhill! You can take your time and stop whenever you want to catch your breath or enjoy the view. Just be cautious on the steeper parts, and they do provide good helmets and gear!

Just did the Haleakala Downhill Bike Tour - what an adventure!

I went on the self-guided bike tour last week with Maui Sunriders and wow, it was amazing! The views from 6,500 feet were breathtaking. I loved how you could stop at the little shops in Makawao. I definitely recommend packing snacks and a camera. It’s totally beginner-friendly, though I was nervous at first. Can’t wait to go back!

Thinking of gifting the Haleakala Bike Tour - need advice!

I'm considering this experience as a gift for my brother who loves biking. He's never been to Maui, so I want it to be special. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s done it. How was the service? Did they customize anything for you? Any tips I should know before booking?
