Q&A

Q: What happens if the weather is bad? Can we reschedule the helicopter tour?

A: If the weather's not cooperating, Blue Hawaiian Helicopters will usually reach out and try to reschedule your flight. They prioritize safety, so if conditions look sketchy, it's likely they'll want to postpone. You can often reschedule for another day, but make sure to check their specific policy when booking.

Q: Are there age or weight restrictions for this helicopter tour?

A: Yes, there are weight limits and children under 2 usually need to sit on a parent's lap. If you're over 250 lbs, you may need to book an extra seat due to safety regulations. It's best to check directly with Blue Hawaiian for the most updated info.

Q: What should I wear for the helicopter tour? Will it be windy up there?

A: Dress in layers! It can be a bit windy up there, so a light jacket is a good idea. Closed-toe shoes will also help, since you’ll be getting in and out of the helicopter. The headsets can block noise, but don’t forget to wear something you'll be comfortable in for a couple of hours.

Thinking about gifting the Hilo Helicopter Tour—thoughts?

Hey everyone! I’m considering giving my partner the Big Island: Discover Hilo Helicopter Tour for their birthday. I read it includes seeing Kilauea and possibly some waterfalls! It’s a bit pricey, but the views sound incredible. Has anyone done this? Is it worth it? Any tips?

Anyone else have a great experience on the Hilo Helicopter Tour?

I finally went on the Big Island: Discover Hilo Helicopter Tour last week, and WOW, it exceeded my expectations! The helicopter rides are super smooth, and the pilot shared so much interesting info about the volcanoes and islands. I highly recommend it if you're on the fence about going. The black-sand beaches from above are breathtaking!
