Q&A

Q: What do you wear for the Mauna Kea summit experience? Is it really cold up there?

A: Definitely dress in layers! It gets pretty cold at the summit, especially after sunset. The experience includes jackets and gloves, but you might want to wear a long-sleeve shirt and pants underneath. Also, don't forget comfy shoes since you’ll be doing some walking.

Q: Is this okay for kids? My niece and nephew are 10 and 12, will they enjoy it?

A: Yes, kids typically love this experience! The drive up is fun, and they’ll be amazed by the telescopes and stars. Just make sure they can handle being out late and are okay with the cool temps. Also, tell them there’s hot cocoa included, which is always a hit!

Q: What happens if the weather is bad? Can we reschedule?

A: If the weather isn’t cooperating, they usually will reschedule for you. Just make sure to check the forecast a few days before your tour. They’re really good about keeping you updated, and they want everyone to have a great experience under the stars!

Just booked the Mauna Kea Sunset & Stars tour - any tips?

I’m so excited! I just booked the Big Island GOAT Experience for my partner's birthday. I’ve heard the sunset views are insane, and the stargazing sounds like a dream. We’ve never done anything like this before. Any must-have tips or things to know before we go?
