Join us for a half-day adventure tour exploring the Big Island from summit to sea. We offer a unique tour including hands-on artifacts, fresh fruit, historical insights, and the significance of the places we visit. We'll take you on an unforgettable journey through Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, home to the world's most active volcano, Kilauea. You'll travel from the visitor center to Kilauea crater for panoramic views of the smoking caldera and steaming volcanic vents, and walk inside iconic Nahuku (Thurston Lava Tube). For lunch, enjoy an island-inspired meal on us at a local restaurant. Later, we'll visit Punaluʻu black sand beach (The Most Famous Black Sand Beach on the Big Island ) and discover the picture-perfect scenery of Rainbow Falls in Hilo. Please note: We provide pick-up & drop-off in the Hilo area only. This tour is not wheelchair accessible and includes moderate walking, including climbing roughly 15 stairs during the lava tube tour.

Q&A

Q: Is there a minimum age for kids to join this tour?

A: The tour is great for families, but I’d recommend kids around 6 years and older since there’s some moderate walking, especially in the lava tube. It's not super intense, but younger ones might get tired. Just check with the tour provider if they have any specific age limits.

Q: What should I wear for the lava tube part? Is it muddy?

A: Definitely wear sturdy shoes, like hiking boots or sneakers, since the lava tube can be a bit slippery and rocky. I’d also suggest wearing something comfortable that you don't mind getting a bit dirty, just in case. Layers can be good too since it’s cooler in the tube.

Q: Can this tour be rescheduled if the weather turns bad?

A: Yes! If there’s bad weather, the provider is usually pretty flexible about rescheduling. Just make sure to give them a call as soon as you know. They want everyone to have a great time and stay safe.

Just did the Big Island Hilo Day Tour and wow!

I went on this tour last week and it was epic! The views at Kilauea crater were unreal. Walking through the lava tube was such a cool experience. I loved learning about the history from our guide too. Lunch at that local spot in Volcano Village was delicious, had some awesome poke! Definitely recommend it as a gift for anyone who loves nature and a bit of adventure.

Thinking about gifting the Hilo Day Tour - any tips?

I’m planning to gift this experience to my parents. They’ve always wanted to visit Hawaii but haven’t had the chance. It sounds like such a great mix of sights. Is the black sand beach really as cool as it sounds? Any advice on how to make it a special day for them?
