Q&A

Q: What should we wear for the Big Island Waterfalls and Volcano tour?

A: Definitely wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes. You’ll be walking around the Volcanoes National Park and the lava tubes can be a little tricky. Also, bring a light jacket since it can get a bit windy near the waterfalls. Don't forget your swimsuit for those black sand beaches if you're planning on taking a dip!

Q: Is there a minimum age for this tour? Thinking of gifting it to my kids.

A: There isn’t a strict minimum age, but it's really best suited for kids 8 and up since some of the hikes can be a bit challenging. The guides are great with kids and will work to keep the experience fun for everyone! If you have younger ones, just check with the tour provider first for safety.

Q: What’s the cancellation policy like? I want to be sure in case plans change.

A: If you need to cancel, just contact Makaio Tours at least 48 hours ahead for a full refund. If the weather’s bad and they need to cancel, they'll let you know and help you reschedule. They’re super accommodating!

Can anyone share their experience on the Big Island Waterfalls and Volcano tour?

I'm considering gifting this tour to my parents for their anniversary. They love nature and have always wanted to see Hawaii! I heard you get to see Kilauea and go through lava tubes, which sounds awesome. Just curious about how long the tour actually is and if it’s worth the price. Anyone done it recently?

Thinking about the Big Island Waterfalls tour for my family trip next month!

Has anyone taken this tour? I saw it includes waterfalls, black sand beaches, and even a tour of Volcanoes National Park. How strenuous is the hiking? My kids are 10 and 12, and I want to make sure they can keep up. Plus, what’s the water situation like? Will we need to bring our own?
