From the spectacular rocky ocean waves to the iconic towns, Highway 1 from San Francisco provides an experience you rarely find. This tour combines the best of California in one day. We begin in Monterey Bay, that has unparalleled sea life. You may even spot a whale! You will have time for coffee at Cannery Row. Next is the famous 17-Mile Scenic Drive (including a stop at golf resort Pebble Beach). There will be photo stops at the Lone Cypress, Bird Rock, Lovers Point or Point Pinos. We visit the beach town of Carmel, home to celebrities such as Clint Eastwood, where you can visit quaint shops, artisinal bakeries and coffee shops. Lastly, we will see the Bixby Bridge and Hurricane Point, the iconic highlights of Big Sur. Depending on the time of the year, there may be a spectacular Northern California sunset over the ocean as we make our way back to San Francisco.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this tour? Can kids join?

A: There's no specific age limit for this tour, so kids are definitely welcome! It's a great experience for families, just keep in mind that some parts of the tour might not hold their attention for too long. If they enjoy nature and wildlife, they'll likely love seeing the sea life in Monterey. Just be sure to bring snacks and maybe a tablet for downtime.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad? Do they reschedule?

A: If the weather is really bad, the tour company usually offers the option to reschedule. They'll contact you a day or two prior to let you know. It's good to keep an eye on the forecast, especially during winter months when it can be unpredictable. Just make sure to check their rescheduling policy when you book!

Q: What's included in the price? Do we need to pay extra for anything?

A: The price covers hotel pick-up and entrance fees for the 17-Mile Drive, which is great! You should plan for additional costs like food and drinks during the stops. If you're planning to visit any specific attractions in Monterey or Carmel, have a bit of cash on hand in case you want to grab something special or try local treats!

Thinking of gifting the Big Sur tour – any tips?

I’m considering getting the Big Sur Monterey and Carmel tour for my parents. They love scenic drives and nature! I really want to make sure they enjoy it. How's the drive along the 17-Mile Scenic Drive? Are there spots that are must-see? Also, what’s the best time of year for this? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Just did the Big Sur tour and wow!

I just got back from the Big Sur Monterey and Carmel tour and it was incredible! Saw a whale in Monterey Bay and the views from Bixby Bridge are just out of this world. They really give you enough time to explore Carmel too! Highly recommend this as a gift for anyone who loves nature and beautiful scenery.
