Looking for a little backcountry adventure with gorgeous views? Take an e-bike ride with us on the Old Coast Road Tour! From panoramic ocean views to the enchanted redwood forest, experience Big Sur on the pioneer’s wagon road. What once was a road for horses and wagons has evolved into a rough 4x4 dirt road that runs 10 miles through the hills and valleys of northern Big Sur. Much of the ride is through the middle of a 7,100 acre ranch that has been running cattle here since 1834. Depending on the season, there may be cows on the road! The hills are intense, so be ready to challenge your balance. Our powerful Pedego eBikes smooth out the daunting climbs. But riders over 180 lb should be prepared to pedal when climbing the hills. And be ready for some long descents on loose dirt (or mud in the winter). Local guides will make the ride come alive with fun info about the flora & fauna that we pass along the way. There's so much fun history that makes Big Sur special!

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the eBike tour? Can kids join?

A: There isn't a strict age limit, but they recommend that kids be at least 12 years old and comfortable riding a bike. It’s a pretty rugged ride, so younger kids might struggle with the terrain. If you have a teen who's confident on a bike, they should have a great time!

Q: What should I wear for this bike tour? Any recommendations?

A: Definitely wear comfortable, breathable clothing since you’ll be biking in warm weather. Layers are a good idea, as it can get cooler in the hills. Closed-toe shoes are a must for safety, and don’t forget sunscreen! You might also want some gloves for better grip on the handlebars.

Q: What’s the cancellation policy like if it rains?

A: If the weather isn't safe, they will reschedule your tour to another date. They usually make that call a day or two in advance. Just keep an eye on the forecast and check in if you’re unsure. They want everyone to have a great experience and will work with you!

Thinking of booking the Big Sur eBike tour! Any tips?

I’m planning to gift the Big Sur’s Old Coast Road eBike Tour to my partner for his birthday! He loves biking, but I’m a bit worried about the hills and if the eBike will really help. Has anyone done this? What was the experience like? Any special tips?

Just finished the Big Sur eBike Tour, and wow!

I did the Old Coast Road eBike Tour last weekend, and it was beyond amazing! The views of the coastline were stunning, and riding through the redwoods felt magical. The guides were super knowledgeable about the area’s history. Just a heads up, those hills are no joke but the eBikes really help! Can't wait to go back!
