Discover the people and places that made brewing a cornerstone of the Queen City’s history with a guided tour of our unique historical trail, featuring art installations and historical signage along the way! Beginning at the Hop On Trail Sign at Findlay Market, we follow the Brewing Heritage Trail along the eastern portion of the Brewery District, sharing stories of the workers, brewmasters, and beer barons from the 19th and early 20th century. Experience the places they worked, learn the dangers they faced, and the empires they built by producing America’s best brews. Tours include a visit into the subterranean lagering cellars of the historic (non-operating) Schmidt Brothers/Crown Brewery, as well as outdoor visits to historic Hudepohl and Kauffman Brewery structures, and concludes with a pint of beer at Findlay Market. Those joining us in the underground cellar will need to be able to traverse a series of stairs leading in and out, but all guests have the option to remain topside.

Q&A

Q: Are there any age restrictions for the Brewers & Barons Trail Tour?

A: Great question! The tour is suitable for all ages, but keep in mind that the beer tasting part is obviously for those 21 and over. Kids can join in on the fun, just be sure to let them know they won’t be able to partake in the beer at Findlay Market. Also, the tour is pretty educational, so it's a cool experience for young ones to learn about the city's brewing history!

Q: What should I wear for the Brewers & Barons Trail Tour? Is it mostly indoors or outdoors?

A: Definitely wear comfortable shoes because there’s a good amount of walking involved, especially if you're checking out the lagering cellars! The tour starts at Findlay Market, so it’s mostly outdoors along the trail but you'll pop indoors to the cellars. Dress for the weather, and maybe bring a light jacket if it's chilly. You’ll want to be comfy while you’re exploring those historic sites!

Q: How do rescheduling and cancellations work for the tour?

A: If you need to reschedule, just contact the Brewing Heritage Trail team a few days in advance. They’re pretty flexible, and as long as there’s availability, they can help you switch your date. Cancellations usually require at least 48 hours' notice for a refund. Just make sure to check their specific policy on their site when you book.

Just did the Brewers & Barons Trail Tour - Amazing experience!

I went on the Brewers & Barons Trail Tour last weekend with a few friends, and it was such a blast! Starting at Findlay Market was perfect because we got to grab some snacks before the tour kicked off. The history of brewing in Cincinnati is super interesting, and the underground lagering cellars were so cool to see! Plus, the pint at the end was the cherry on top. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to learn and have some fun!

Looking to gift the Brewers & Barons Tour - Any thoughts?

I'm thinking about giving my dad the Brewers & Barons Trail Tour for his birthday. He loves beer history and I think he’d appreciate the storytelling aspect. But just wondering if it really lives up to the hype? And how's the tasting at the end? Anyone have tips for making the day special?
