EXPERIENCE A DEEP, REMOTE SLOT CANYON. Buckskin Gulch is the longest slot canyon in the world, slicing through the beautiful Navajo sandstone in southern Utah. Enjoy an intimate adventure in an incredible slot canyon without the mass of crowds that are encountered at Zions or Antelope Canyon. We'll be dropping into the very middle of this remote canyon, bypassing a long hike at the beginning, and exploring the labyrinth at a leisurely pace all to ourselves. This hike is not for anyone with a strong fear of heights and requires a steep Class 3 scramble into the slot (you'll be using your hands on the rock). This is a physically demanding full-day hike between 6 to 10 miles, with 500' vertical elevation between top and bottom. Recent rain events may require hiking through mud and wading through pools of water. Conditions inside the slot canyon change continuously, so bring an adventurous and positive attitude. Entry into the canyon is allowed only if safe from flash flood danger.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this hike at Buckskin Gulch?

A: There isn't a strict age limit, but this hike is physically demanding and involves some scrambling. I’d say it's best suited for teens and adults who are in decent shape. I took my 16-year-old son, and he loved it, but younger kids might struggle with the steep sections and heights.

Q: What should I wear for the Buckskin Gulch hike? Is it muddy?

A: Definitely wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots that you don't mind getting muddy. The canyon can get wet and muddy, especially after rain. I'd recommend moisture-wicking clothes and a lightweight jacket, just in case it gets chilly in the canyon. Also, a hat and sunscreen are a must!

Q: Can you reschedule the hike if the weather is bad?

A: Yes, you can reschedule if the conditions aren't safe, like flash floods or heavy rain. The provider is really good about keeping you updated on the weather. If you're flexible with dates, you should be fine!

Just did the Buckskin Gulch hike! Amazing experience!

I just got back from the Buckskin Gulch day hike, and wow, it was unreal! The slot canyons are breathtaking. We hiked about 8 miles throughout the day with our guide, who knew so much about the area. It was a bit tough in some spots, especially the scramble, but totally worth it. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a unique adventure in Arizona!

Thinking about gifting the Buckskin Gulch hike, any thoughts?

Looking to buy the Buckskin Gulch hike as a gift for my boyfriend’s birthday. He loves hiking but hasn't done anything like this before. Is it too intense for a beginner? Also, how's the logistics with parking? Any tips would be appreciated!
