Capture Wild Alaska does not do big groups! We do private tours only! (one to six people max). We try to keep you away from the crowds as headlights from vehicles ruin the light show. We have secret and private locations to share with you. Our private tours also reduce exposure to other travelers. We know this is important for our elderly guests and immune compromised. We also offer a very cozy Grand Wagoneer with heated seats and triple sunroof. We also offer photography instruction to shoot the Auroras and include a high resolution file of our light show with additional prints to purchase as an option.

Q: What kind of clothes should we wear for the Northern Lights workshop? I’ve heard it can get super cold!

A: Definitely dress in layers! It gets cold, especially at night while you're waiting for the lights. A good base layer, warm jacket, gloves, and insulated boots are a must. Also, don't forget a warm hat! If you're extra cold-sensitive, bring hand warmers too. They provide heated seats in the vehicle, which helps a lot between shots.

Q: Is this experience suitable for kids? My 10-year-old loves photography!

A: Yes, kids can definitely join! The private group setup means it's a more personal experience, and the photography instruction can be tailored to be fun for younger ones. Just make sure they can handle the cold for a few hours outside, but the heated seats in the Grand Wagoneer help a lot during breaks. It's a great way to spark their creativity!

Q: What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate? Can we reschedule?

A: If the weather's bad, they’re great about rescheduling! They know how important the Northern Lights are, so they make accommodations. Just reach out to them as soon as you can if that happens. They’ll work with you to find a better time. Plus, they know the best spots to catch the lights when conditions are right!

Just got back from the Northern Lights Photo Workshop, and WOW!

I just did the Capturing the Ethereal Beauty workshop in Fairbanks and it was amazing! The private tour setup was perfect since we avoided the crowds, and our guide really knew how to find the best spots for the auroras. The Grand Wagoneer was super comfy, especially with the heated seats. If you’re into photography, they provided awesome tips and I feel like I actually improved my skills! We even got a high-res file of the lights, which is a bonus. Highly recommend it!
