You will ride from our bike shop in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and explore cottages throughout Carmel. Passing several local historic sites, you will ride down the Carmel coastline along Scenic Drive; a one-way, 15-mile per hour road. You’ll pass landmarks such as the Tor House, Butterfly House, Carmel River State Beach, Clint Eastwood’s Mission Ranch, and the Carmel Mission, one of the most authentically restored Catholic mission churches in California. The minimum for a non-private tour to operate is 4 people. If you reserve a tour date and we have less than 4 people sign up for the tour then we reserve the right to cancel the tour with a full refund, or convert the tour to a private guided tour (additional rates apply), or combine the tour with another tour at a different time that day, or convert the tour to a standard rental reservation (no tour guide). These options will be reviewed with the customer for their approval 24 hours before the reservation.

Q&A

Q: What's the age limit for kids on this electric bike tour?

A: There isn't a strict age limit, but kids should be at least 12 years old to ride their own e-bike. If your child is younger, they can ride along in a trailer or as a passenger on a tandem bike, depending on availability. Just check with Mad Dogs & Englishmen ahead of time to make sure they can accommodate your needs!

Q: Can this tour be rescheduled if the weather's not good?

A: Yes, if the weather looks bad, Mad Dogs & Englishmen will work with you to reschedule your tour. They typically try to notify you ahead of time if they anticipate cancellations due to weather. So, you won't be left hanging!

Q: How's parking around the shop where the tour starts?

A: Parking can be a bit tricky in downtown Carmel, especially on weekends. There are some public lots, but they fill up fast. I recommend arriving early to snag a spot or consider parking a few blocks away and walking to the shop. It’s a beautiful area to stroll through!

Thinking of gifting the Electric Bike Tour in Carmel – is it worth it?

I'm looking into this electric bike tour in Carmel-by-the-Sea for my partner's birthday. They love cycling and exploring new places! The route looks amazing, especially along Scenic Drive with all the beautiful views and historic sites like Clint Eastwood’s Mission Ranch. I just want to know if the ride is easy and if it’s beginner-friendly, or if it's tough for new bikers. Anyone done this?
