This self-guided audio walking tour covers Carmel-by-the-Sea’s three mission areas: Mission Ranch, Carmel Mission Basilica, and the Mission Trail Nature Preserve. Our tour begins and ends at the Mission Ranch Hotel, owned by actor and former mayor of Carmel, Clint Eastwood. From there, we’ll wind our way through the southern end of this charming village of Carmel-by-the-Sea to the Mission Basilica, and then on to the Mission Trail Nature Preserve. Along the way, you will learn about early local California and Carmel history, view Carmel’s different architectural styles, from mission to modern, and hear stories about some of its interesting residents. This two-hour walking tour is two miles long. Please note: This tour does not include a visit to the interior of the Mission Basilica. Q&A

Q: How do I access the audio tour? Is it easy to use?

A: You just need to download the VoiceMap app on your phone; it's pretty user-friendly. Once you purchase the tour, you’ll get lifetime access to the audio and maps. Make sure you download everything offline before you go, especially since Wi-Fi might be spotty in the area. Overall, it’s straightforward to use!

Q: Is this tour suitable for kids? My niece is 10.

A: Yeah, this tour can definitely be fun for kids, especially if they like being outdoors! The walk is two miles, so you might want to keep an eye on her energy levels. It’s also a good chance to sneak in some history while exploring Carmel's architecture. Just make sure she’s got comfortable shoes!

Q: What if it rains? Can we reschedule?

A: The tour is self-guided, so you can choose when to go. If you’re worried about rain, just check the weather beforehand. If it looks bad, you can always wait a day or two. There’s no limit on how long you can hold onto the tour in the app, so you're covered there!

Thinking about gifting the audio tour—any thoughts?

I'm looking at getting this self-guided audio tour for my parents. They love history and nice walks! I saw it covers some of the mission areas and has a lot of interesting stories. Do you think they'd enjoy this, or should I look for something else?
