Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on the ferry to Catalina Island?

A: There’s no strict age limit for kids, but keep in mind that the ferry ride is open-air and can get a bit windy. It’s a pretty smooth ride overall, so younger kids usually do fine. Just make sure to keep an eye on them, especially on the upper deck!

Q: Can you cancel or reschedule your ferry tickets easily if plans change?

A: Yes, you can generally reschedule your ferry tickets up to 24 hours in advance for a fee. Just make sure to check their cancellation policy when you book since it’s good to know your options if anything comes up!

Q: What should I wear on the ferry? Is it cold on the top deck?

A: Definitely bring a light jacket or sweater, especially if you plan to sit on the top deck. It can get breezy out there, but the views are totally worth it! Dress in layers since it's usually warmer when you leave Newport Beach.

Planning a day trip to Avalon - any tips?

I just booked the Catalina Island Ferry from Newport Beach for a day trip next month! It seemed like the best way to get there quickly (only an hour!). I’m super excited about the views from the top deck. Any recommendations for things to do once we arrive, or advice for the ferry ride itself?

This ferry ride was amazing!

Just got back from taking the Catalina Island Ferry to Avalon, and I can’t recommend it enough! The ride was smooth and the view from the top deck was out of this world. We loved the snack bar too. It was about an hour long, which was perfect for chatting and soaking in the scenery. Can’t wait to go back!
