Though the Art Deco style throws us back in time, it’s actually a futuristic style — it’s meant to make people in the 1920s think of the future. The gleaming materials, the perfect precision of the details… it’s the epitome of glitz, glam, and elegance. On this tour, you’ll walk in the footsteps of those high on the potential of the future, before the infamous Crash of ‘29. We’ll explore several stunning interior spaces within the Loop and near the Chicago River, going inside not only the great Art Deco buildings of the Loop, but also a few buildings you’ll recognize from popular boat tours. But the great thing is that you’ll go where most boat tour guests won’t ever go: inside these gorgeous Art Deco buildings, where you’ll be amazed by the beauty that people don’t know is right there behind closed doors.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this walking tour? Can kids join?

A: Kids are definitely welcome on the tour! The guide usually adjusts the pace and content to keep it engaging for younger ones, so it's a good fit for families. Just make sure they can handle a fair amount of walking since it can last a few hours. If they have a keen interest in architecture, they'll probably love it!

Q: What's the best time of year to take this tour?

A: Fall is probably the best time for this tour. The weather in Chicago is generally mild, plus the fall colors are beautiful along the river! However, early spring is also nice, just check the forecast for rain. It might not be as enjoyable in the winter since you'll be outside for most of the time.

Q: If the weather doesn't cooperate, can you reschedule?

A: Yes! If the weather is really bad, they typically offer a reschedule option. Just reach out to them ahead of time, and they’re pretty accommodating. It's best to keep an eye on the forecast leading up to your tour date, though.

Just did the Chicago Architecture Walking Tour - Amazing!

I took the Art Deco interiors tour last weekend, and wow, it was a blast! Our guide was super knowledgeable and took us into some incredible buildings around the Loop. The detail in the architecture blew my mind. I went with a couple of friends, and we all learned a ton. If you're an architecture nerd (or even if you're not), this is a must-do! Plus, we got some awesome photos along the river.

Thinking of gifting this tour – any tips?

I'm considering the Chicago Art Deco tour for my brother's birthday. He loves architecture but hasn't done much of this kind of thing. Is it easy to follow along? Also, any tips on what to wear? I don't want him to be uncomfortable!
