Q&A

Q: What’s the best time of year to do the Chilkat Inlet Coastal Hike?

A: The best time for the Chilkat Inlet Coastal Hike is definitely late spring to early fall, around May to September. The weather is usually milder, and you'll get to see the wildflowers in full bloom! Just keep in mind that weather can be unpredictable, so layering is key. It’s also when the guides are most active and available.

Q: Is there a weight limit for the hike?

A: There’s no strict weight limit! The hike is designed for various fitness levels. Just remember, it’s about 5 hours long, so a good fitness level will help. The guides are super supportive and will assist anyone who might need a bit more help along the way.

Q: What should we wear for the Chilkat Inlet hike? Any advice?

A: Definitely dress in layers! Start with moisture-wicking base layers, a warm mid-layer, and a waterproof jacket. Sturdy hiking boots are a must because parts of the trail can be muddy. And bring a hat and sunscreen too, as you’ll be out in the sun at certain points!

Thinking of gifting the Chilkat Inlet hike but unsure!

So, I’m looking to gift my brother the Chilkat Inlet Coastal Hike in Haines. He loves nature and hiking but isn’t super experienced. Do you think this would be a good fit for him? Also, I’ve heard the views are stunning! Anyone been on this hike?

Just did the Chilkat Inlet hike, and WOW!

I just got back from the Chilkat Inlet Coastal Hike, and I can’t recommend it enough! The views were spectacular, especially of the glaciers. The picnic lunch on the beach was the perfect touch! I took my girlfriend, and we both had a blast. Totally worth it!
