On this self-guided walking tour, you’ll be introduced to two of its most interesting suburbs, Brady Street and the Lower Eastside, and their architecture. You’ll begin by discovering the impact that Polish and Italian immigrants had on Brady Street Historic District, including delicious Italian cuisine at Sciortino’s Bakery and Glorioso’s Deli. Finally, you’ll stroll down the city’s former Gold Coast to end this tour at the Oak Leaf Trail on Prospect Avenue, giving you the opportunity to continue your Milwaukee adventure independently on the Lake Line Trail. This family-friendly tour is an easy stroll, with the option to pop inside some of the city’s most interesting churches. Come hungry, there are plenty of opportunities to grab snacks, or discover your new favorite restaurant along the route.

Q&A

Q: Is this audio tour suitable for kids? What age do you think would enjoy it?

A: Definitely! This tour is family-friendly, so younger kids can enjoy it too. The pace is easy, and since there are stops for snacks and interesting places, it keeps them engaged. My kids, ages 8 and 10, loved the Italian bakery we visited!

Q: How long does the tour usually take? Can you do it at your own pace?

A: It’s super flexible! The tour can take anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on how many stops you make. It’s self-guided, so you can take your time exploring Brady Street, especially if you stop for food! I would recommend blocking off at least a half day for it.

Q: What if the weather’s bad? Can you do the tour on a different day?

A: Good question! Since it’s a self-guided tour through the app, you can do it anytime. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, just reschedule for a nicer day! The audio and maps are always available offline, so you’re covered even without cell service.

Just did the City of Neighborhoods tour and loved it!

Hey everyone! I just finished the self-guided audio tour in Milwaukee and it was a blast. The Brady Street area has so much history, and the food stops were incredible—Sciortino’s Bakery is a must-try if you're into pastries! I enjoyed taking my time and stopping at the churches along the way. It felt relaxed and I got a good workout in too! Perfect for a sunny day.

Thinking of gifting the audio tour, any tips?

Hey, I’m considering gifting the City of Neighborhoods audio tour to my sister. She loves exploring new places but hates big crowds. Would this be good for her? How about the food stops? Are they pricey? Let me know your thoughts!
