In the cooler Florida months, bioluminescent Comb Jellies congregate in the protected waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Living in the most bio-diverse estuary in North America, Comb Jellies are clear, glob-like creatures that, despite their name, do not sting! So as you paddle the calm waters laced with mangroves and palm trees, you can catch and hold these gentle glowing creatures. They're right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for new and unique experiences. In addition to the stars, the myriad of protected wildlife around you, and the Comb Jelly’s bioluminescence, their “ribs” are lined with cilia that they use to propel themselves, so when you cast a flashlight on them just right, they’ll also refract a dynamic rainbow-y light show! They’re right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for unique experiences.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the Comb Jelly Kayak Tour? Can kids join?

A: Yes, the Comb Jelly Kayak Tour is family-friendly! Kids as young as 5 can join, but they need to be accompanied by an adult. Just make sure they’re comfortable in a kayak and excited about nature. It’s such a magical experience for kids to see the glowing jellyfish up close!

Q: What should we wear for the kayak tour? Is it warm enough in December?

A: Great question! In December, it can get a bit chilly in Florida, especially at night. I’d recommend wearing layers, like a light long-sleeve shirt and a jacket that you can take off if you get warm. Don’t forget water shoes or sandals, since you might get a little wet!

Q: Can we reschedule if the weather is bad? What's the cancellation policy?

A: Absolutely! A Day Away Kayak Tours has a flexible cancellation policy. If there are weather concerns, they’ll contact you and help you reschedule for another day. Just make sure to keep an eye on your email before the tour for any updates.

Just did the Comb Jelly Kayak Tour and wow!

I can't recommend the Comb Jelly Bioluminescence Kayak Tour enough! We went last weekend in Cocoa Beach, and it was one of the coolest things I've ever done. The bioluminescent jellies were amazing, and our guide was super knowledgeable. Paddling through the mangroves at night while holding these glowing creatures was just surreal. We took a ton of pics, but honestly, they don’t do it justice. Definitely bring a flashlight to see the rainbows they create! If you’re thinking about it as a gift, just do it!

Thinking of gifting the kayak tour to my girlfriend, any tips?

Hey everyone! I’m planning to surprise my girlfriend with the Comb Jelly Kayak Tour for her birthday next month. I’ve heard great things about it, but I’m curious about what to expect. Is it romantic? Should we pack a picnic for after? Any tips on what to wear? I want it to be perfect!
