Crystal River is home to one of the largest manatee populations in the world. During the winter months hundreds of manatees congregate in the springs and you can't beat viewing these amazing animals up close from a stand up paddle board or kayak. Although Manatee season is during the winter time, resident manatees can still be spotted in our waterways year round. King’s Bay has more to offer than just manatees however, so whatever the time of year we'd love to get you out on the water to explore it! We have an excellent map so you can navigate the bay easily and save money by not paying for a guide. We will go over our map with you in detail before launch so you know how to get to the springs and where to look for manatees.

Q: Is there an age limit for paddle boarding, especially for kids?

A: There's no strict age limit, but kids need to be able to paddle safely and wear life jackets, which are provided. We took our 10-year-old nephew, and he loved it! Just make sure they can handle themselves on a paddle board. You can definitely bring kids as long as they’re supervised.

Q: What happens if the weather turns bad during our rental?

A: If the weather gets rough, you’ll want to return early. They’re pretty flexible about rescheduling in case of bad weather, just call ahead. I went last winter and we had to come back because of a storm, but they let us rebook without any extra fees.

Q: Can we bring our own snacks and drinks while paddle boarding?

A: Yes, you can absolutely bring snacks and drinks! Just a heads up though, be sure to keep them in waterproof bags or containers. We had a little picnic on the water while watching manatees, it was awesome! Just remember to pack light.

Just did the Crystal River Paddle Board rental and wow!

I just got back from paddle boarding in Crystal River, and it was epic! The manatees were everywhere, especially around the springs. We rented for 4 hours, and it was just enough time to explore and chill. Parking was super easy too, right behind their building. If you’re thinking of gifting this, go for it!
