Q&A

Q: Are there any age restrictions for the wildlife tour in Custer State Park?

A: There are no strict age limits for the tour! It's family-friendly, so kids are definitely welcome. However, it's a good idea to consider how young your kids are, since the tour lasts 7-8 hours. Just make sure they can handle the time in the van and enjoy being outdoors. They provide snacks and water, which helps!

Q: What should I wear for the Custer State Park wildlife tour?

A: Dress in layers! The weather in South Dakota can be unpredictable, so it's best to wear a light jacket and comfortable shoes. You'll be in and out of the van, and the terrain might be uneven at times. Also, don’t forget a hat and sunglasses for when you’re outside taking pictures. They provide blankets and umbrellas in the van too!

Q: I'm worried about possible weather cancellations for the tour. How does that work?

A: Weather can certainly impact the tour, especially during severe storms. If they have to cancel due to bad weather, they usually notify you in advance and provide options to reschedule or get a refund. Just be sure to check the forecast before your trip!

Thinking of gifting this Custer State tour!

I'm considering this tour as a gift for my parents who love nature. They’ve never been to South Dakota! I’m a little worried about how they’ll handle the long duration, but I think they’d love the wildlife aspect. Any tips on making it special for them?
