Experience the world’s most ethical shark encounter in Hawaii. These shark tours were created by renowned marine biologists Ocean Ramsey & Juan Oliphant. As the first company in the United States offering swimming with sharks programs, we combine thrilling adventure with real science—our marine biologist guides (who enter first and exit last) teach you shark safety skills, explain sensory systems, and let you participate in live data collection while maintaining our perfect safety record. We practice passive, respectful encounters where you’ll learn shark behavior from the researchers who wrote the book on it, then discuss conservation actions you can take. Founded by world-famous shark experts, our program blends cutting-edge research with unforgettable education, offering what no other tour can: the chance to swim freely with sharks while contributing directly to their protection. Book your scientifically guided shark dive today and become part of the conservation story.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for participating in the shark dive experience?

A: Yes, there is an age requirement. Generally, participants need to be at least 10 years old to join the shark dive. However, younger kids can sometimes participate if they are accompanied by an adult, so it's best to check with One Ocean Diving for specifics. Safety is a top priority, so they’ll provide guidance based on the individual’s comfort level and swimming ability.

Q: What should we wear for the dive? Is there anything specific we should bring?

A: You’ll want to wear a swimsuit and a rash guard is a good idea for sun protection. The tour provides snorkeling gear, but I’d recommend bringing your own if you prefer your own fit. Also, don’t forget a towel, water shoes, and sunscreen that’s reef-safe! Flip-flops are fine for the boat, but you’ll want something secure for when you’re in the water.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad on the day of our shark dive?

A: If the weather conditions aren’t safe, One Ocean Diving may reschedule your dive. They’ll contact you as soon as they know, and they’re really good about offering alternatives. Make sure to check their cancellation policy just in case. It’s all about safety, so better to be safe than sorry!

Anyone done the Dive with Sharks in Hawaii?

I’m thinking of gifting this shark dive experience to my boyfriend. Has anyone done this with One Ocean Diving? I’ve read amazing reviews about the marine biologists leading the dives. What was the experience like? Were the sharks really close? I want it to be memorable!

Shark Tour or Snorkeling – Which should I choose?

I’m planning a trip to Oahu soon, and I can’t decide between a shark dive or just regular snorkeling. I want something thrilling but also educational. Is this experience worth it? Any thoughts?
