Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on the rafting trip? Thinking of getting this for my son who's 6.

A: Yes, kids as young as 4 can join the Lower Animas River trip! It’s a great family-friendly adventure. Just make sure your son is comfortable with some splashes and a bit of excitement. The Class II rapids are really fun and perfect for younger rafters.

Q: How often do they cancel due to weather? I want to plan this for next month.

A: They only cancel for severe weather, like thunderstorms. Most rain doesn’t affect the trip, so it’s usually safe to go. If they do need to cancel, they’ll give you a chance to reschedule easily. Just make sure to check the forecast a few days in advance!

Q: What's the best thing to wear on the trip? Do I need special shoes?

A: Wear something you don’t mind getting wet! Swimsuits or quick-dry clothes work great. As for shoes, water shoes or sandals with straps are ideal. You’ll have a safety orientation, so they’ll go over everything you need to know before hopping in the raft! Also, don’t forget sunscreen!

Just did the Lower Animas Rafting Trip - What a blast!

I went on the 1/4 day rafting trip last weekend with some friends and it was AMAZING! The Class III rapids at Smelter Whitewater Park were a total thrill. Our guide was super fun and shared cool stories about Durango. We even saw some wildlife along the shore. I’d definitely recommend this for a fun day out, especially if you’re into outdoor adventures!

Considering this rafting trip as a gift for my dad!

My dad loves the outdoors and has always wanted to try rafting. The Lower Animas River trip looks like a perfect fit! Just trying to decide between this and a jeep tour. Has anyone done both? How do they compare? I really want him to have an unforgettable experience.
