If you want to spend some time on a beautiful pristine island paradise, the ferry to Egmont Key State Park from Fort De Soto is a great choice for the whole family! Get ready for a day of fun in the sun. Our ferry boat operates from the Fort De Soto Bay Pier daily in the spring and summer and nearly every day in the fall and winter. The ferry ride to the island is about 45-60 minutes and offers great chances to spot dolphins, sea turtles, and sometimes even manatees! We often spot sea birds on the ride to and from Egmont Key Island aboard the Hubbard’s Ferry, our big blue boat. Once on the island (3hrs), Egmont Key offers great shelling, swimming, and opportunities for adventures. Including Fort Dade, a fort that dates back to the Spanish American war for to explore. Egmont Key is also home to a large population of endangered native gopher tortoise! Snorkeling is sold separately on the day of the trip and not always guaranteed. Dependent on water quality, weather, predator fish.

Q&A

Q: Is there a weight limit for the ferry to Egmont Key?

A: No specific weight limit is mentioned, but the ferry can accommodate a good number of people and their gear. Just be mindful of space, especially during peak times. It's a good idea to arrive early to get your seats and stow your belongings efficiently.

Q: What should I wear for the ferry ride and time on Egmont Key?

A: Light, breathable clothing is best since you'll be outside in the sun! Don't forget a swimsuit if you plan to swim. A hat and sunscreen are essential for protection. Flip-flops are fine, but water shoes are better if you want to explore the rocky areas.

Q: Can I bring my kids along? Are there age limits?

A: Absolutely! Kids are welcome on the ferry and on Egmont Key. Just check if there are any specific requirements for really young children, like life jackets. It’s a great family day, and even toddlers can enjoy the beach.

Just got back from the Egmont Key Ferry trip! What a day!

Wow, if you're considering this trip, do it! We saw dolphins on the way to Egmont Key, which was such a highlight. Once we got there, the beach was beautiful, and the fort was super fun to explore. We packed a picnic, but they have snacks on the boat too. Just a heads-up, snorkeling is extra and depends on the weather, but it was worth it for us. Can't wait to go back!

Thinking of gifting the Egmont Key Ferry experience – Worth it?

I'm looking at getting this ferry trip for my parents. They love nature and the beach, but I’m worried about how crowded it might be. Any advice on timing or if it’s too hot in the summer? Also, what’s the best way to book?
