Nathan is a professional portrait photographer by trade, which is something you’d be hard pressed to find on any other Aurora tour in Fairbanks. He was a full time wedding photographer for 10 years before becoming an aurora portrait photographer, which he's done for over 7 years. Other tours offer “free portraits” but not to the level of expertise that Nathan provides. He uses controlled supplemental studio lighting to achieve unmatched quality and sharpness, using techniques he developed over 7 years of practicing aurora portraiture. We also provide complementary gear to help keep you warm and safe: hand/toe warmers, headlamps, water bottles etc. What everything boils down to is great photos and a personal experience. The photos speak for themselves and we want to get you some of your own. Not only will you have a top tier photographer as a guide but Nathan also has more than 20 years of Alaska artic wilderness survival skills and offers expertise in all things Alaska adventure.

Q: Is there an age limit for the Aurora Adventure experience?

A: There's no strict age limit, but it's best for older kids and adults since it can get pretty chilly outside. Nathan's team provides warm gear, but younger kids might not enjoy being out in the cold for long. If you’re bringing kids, just make sure they can handle the cold and are interested in photography!

Q: What should we wear for this tour? Is it super cold?

A: Definitely dress in layers! It can get really cold, especially at night. Wear thermal underwear, a warm jacket, gloves, and a beanie. Nathan provides hand and toe warmers, but being cozy to start with is key. You'll want to be comfortable while waiting for those auroras to pop out!

Q: What if the weather is bad and we can’t see the auroras?

A: Nathan offers an Aurora Guarantee! If you don't see the auroras during your tour, you can come back for another tour at no extra cost, as long as there's availability. So no worries about the weather ruining your experience!

Just did the Aurora Adventure with Nathan—best experience ever!

I just got back from the Electric Moose Studios Aurora Adventure, and wow, what a night! Nathan is super talented, and the portraits he took are stunning. We enjoyed hot pizza and some amazing hot chocolate while waiting for the auroras. The heated shelter was a lifesaver! I’m so happy with the digital album too. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a unique gift or experience.
