This is very similar to our Sunset Tour with the added excitement in the fall when the Elk are in their Rut. We stay in the lower portion of the National Park with amazing photo opportunities of the Elk sparing, mating and bugling. This wonderful photo tour not only gets you walking to the Alluvial Fan waterfall and a relaxing walk around Sprague Lake, but also provides great opportunities to see all types of wildlife and the stunning beauty of the lower portion of the National Park in the fall with a spectacular changing color of the fall leaves. In this photo tour you have stadium seating in one of our off-road custom vehicles with a convertible top, heating, and air conditioning to make your ride as comfortable as possible. During your tour you will be able to enjoy the included snacks and a variety of drinks. Feel free to bring alcohol for adults for a little extra relaxation. Fun for the whole family and a tour you won’t want to miss!

Q&A

Q: What's the best time to go for the elk rut? I want to surprise my parents!

A: The optimal time for the elk rut is usually mid-September to mid-October. The tour takes advantage of this period to maximize your chances of seeing the elk sparring and bugling. Book early, as this is a popular time and spots fill up fast! The fall colors also make for stunning photos, so it’s perfect for your parents!

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this tour?

A: There’s no strict age limit, but kids should be able to sit through a few hours in the vehicle. It’s a family-friendly tour, so younger kids are welcome as long as parents supervise them. The walk to Sprague Lake is also easy for most kids, so they should enjoy it!

Q: How's the parking situation at the tour start? Is it easy to get to?

A: Parking is pretty straightforward. There’s a designated lot near the tour start point. It can fill up quickly in peak seasons, so try to arrive a bit early. You’ll also get clear directions from the company after you book, so no worries!

Just went on the elk watching tour and it was AMAZING!

I did the Elk Watching Tour with Wildside 4x4 in Estes Park last week and wow, it exceeded my expectations! The elk were so active during the rut, and we got to see them sparring. The guide was super knowledgeable and the snacks were a nice touch. The changing leaves were gorgeous too. If you love nature photography, this is a must-do! Thinking of booking again for my brother's birthday!

Thinking about gifting this tour—any tips?

I'm looking into getting this elk watching tour for my parents' anniversary. They love wildlife and photography. I saw that it includes snacks and drinks, but is it okay to bring some wine for them? Also, how long does the tour usually last? Any advice would be appreciated!
