Q&A
A: There's no strict age limit for the tour! It's family-friendly, so kids are definitely welcome. Just keep in mind that the tour involves some walking, especially around Mount Vernon. Make sure your kids are up for it, but they usually love exploring the gardens and mansion. Plus, the guide makes things engaging for all ages.
A: Casual is the way to go! Comfortable walking shoes are a must since you'll be strolling through the gardens and around the estate. I'd recommend dressing in layers, too, since it can get warm during the day but cooler in the shade. Just keep it relaxed and you’ll be good to go!
A: They'll only cancel the tour if the weather is really bad. In light rain, you can still do most of the indoor activities, like the mansion and museum. If you're worried, just keep an eye on the forecast and check in with the provider before your tour. They’re pretty accommodating with rescheduling!

Thinking of gifting the Mount Vernon tour - any thoughts?
I’m considering this tour for my dad’s birthday! He loves history, especially anything about George Washington. The fact that you get to see the mansion and stroll through the gardens sounds amazing. Plus, I heard Old Town Alexandria is beautiful. Has anyone done this yet? What was your experience like?
Just did the Mount Vernon tour - here’s my review!
I just got back from the Mount Vernon and Old Town tour, and wow, it was awesome! The mansion is beautiful, and learning about Washington’s life was so cool. The museum had some amazing exhibits too. Definitely wear comfy shoes! Old Town Alexandria was such a nice drive, I can’t get over those cobblestone streets. Highly recommend this for anyone who loves history!
